newy.com.au – Motorists are being warned to allow extra time through Mayfield from Monday 6 July as essential pedestrian safety works begin at the intersection of Maitland Road, Church Street and Nile Street.
Transport for NSW says the work will include traffic light maintenance and pedestrian protection improvements, with a mix of day and night shifts continuing until mid-August.
Day work will be carried out from 7am to 5pm, while night work will run from 7pm to 5am. During the works, drivers can expect blacked out signals, traffic control, single lane closures, alternating traffic flow and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h.
Motorists have been advised to drive to the conditions, follow signs and the directions of traffic controllers, and allow up to five minutes of extra travel time.
Oversize and over mass vehicles will need to call ahead on UHF 27 and will be directed through the work site by traffic control when required. Vehicles travelling under a permit must remain on their approved route unless an updated permit is obtained from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator.
