newy.com.au – Motorists are being warned to expect changed overnight traffic conditions at Charlestown from Monday 29 June while essential maintenance is carried out at the Pacific Highway and Ridley Street intersection.
Transport for NSW said crews will replace the traffic lights, posts, cabling and controller at the intersection to improve its technical performance, with work to take place overnight, weather permitting.
The work is scheduled from 6pm to 5am on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights, and from 9.30pm to 5am on Thursday nights.
During work hours, the intersection’s traffic lights will be blacked out. Traffic control will be in place, along with single lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h.
Heavy vehicles with ground contact, or with an overall width wider than three metres, are advised to contact the project team at least one day before travelling through the area on 0403 167 894. Freight operators have also been advised the project will operate on UHF channel 24.
Transport for NSW said vehicles travelling under a permit must not leave the approved route listed in the permit unless an updated permit is obtained from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
