newy.com.au – Night maintenance work on the bridge at Swansea will reduce traffic to one lane in each direction and stop marine traffic during work hours from Tuesday, 9 June.
Transport for NSW says the work will be carried out between 7pm and 5am for up to two nights, weather permitting, to reduce the impact on motorists.
Crews will carry out maintenance on the bridge locks and hydraulic cylinders, as well as inspect and test electrical, mechanical and hydraulic components and the bridge’s emergency systems.
One bridge will remain open at all times while the work is under way, operating with one lane in each direction. Traffic control will be in place and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h will apply for the safety of workers and motorists.
The bridge will not open to marine traffic during the night shifts.
Motorists are being advised to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
Oversize, overmass and heavy vehicles with ground contact, or with an overall width greater than three metres, should contact the project team at least one day before travelling on 0421 541 116. Transport for NSW says delays will occur if prior contact is not made.
Freight operators are advised the project will operate on UHF channel 17. Vehicles travelling under a permit must not leave the approved route listed in the permit unless an updated permit is obtained from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator.
More information is available through Live Traffic NSW, with motorists able to search for “Swansea” in the Live Traffic app, select the incident and click “Follow” to receive updates.
