newy.com.au – Lake Macquarie City Council has moved into contract negotiations with its preferred candidate for chief executive officer, after councillors voted to progress the recruitment process at an extraordinary meeting on Monday night.
Mayor Adam Shultz and the council’s external recruitment consultant will now negotiate a contract with the selected candidate, with the council keeping the person’s identity confidential while that process continues.
“We’re excited about where we are headed, but the process needs to remain confidential until that negotiation is complete,” Mayor Shultz said.
“Once we get to that point, we’ll be able to share more information about our new CEO and the direction they are hoping to take.”
The council said further information would be released once negotiations were finalised.
Mayor Shultz said the appointment process had been guided by the need to find a leader suited to the organisation and the Lake Macquarie community.
“Regardless, Lake Macquarie City Council is a strong, high-performing organisation with a clear direction, committed people and a shared purpose, and that will not change,” he said.
“The elected Council has been focused on ensuring the next CEO is a highly capable leader who aligns with Council’s ambition, values and commitment to the community.”
