newy.com.au – Lake Macquarie City Council is offering financial assistance for events including triathlons, music festivals, sailing competitions and community open days through a new Seed Events and Festivals Funding program.
Lake Macquarie City Council Manager Arts Culture and Tourism Jacqui Hemsley said the funding aimed to deliver meaningful, creative and high-quality events for the community and visitors. “This is all about boosting high-quality, creative and community-focused events that celebrate Lake Macquarie’s culture, build social and economic strength and attract visitors,” she said.
Seed grants will support local and emerging events with funding ranging from $1,000 to $8,000, while high-profile events aimed at boosting visitation will be eligible for sponsorship funding of $5,000 to $15,000. “By investing in events that attract visitors and showcase Lake Macquarie, this funding helps drive tourism, support local businesses and strengthen our regional event economy,” Ms Hemsley said.
Council will also deliver free professional development workshops for event organisers. “To further support event organisers, Council is delivering free professional development workshops to strengthen skills and build capacity,” Ms Hemsley said.
The first workshop will be held at Windale Hub, bilyabayi, on Thursday 26 March and will focus on how to host a successful event. Four more workshops will follow, covering topics including how to apply for grants, unlock funding opportunities and plan events in public spaces.
Applications are open until Friday 24 April 2026. More information is available at lakemac.com.au.
