newy.com.au – A broken-down truck and a grass fire are affecting traffic on the M1 Pacific Motorway at West Wallsend, just south of the Newcastle Interchange, with delays in both directions.
Heavy traffic has built up near George Booth Drive, with queues extending from the O’Donneltown Road overpass and the southbound Newcastle Interchange on-ramp. Motorists have been advised to reduce speed and exercise caution.
Transport for NSW reported the breakdown truck and grass fire at 4.08pm on Wednesday, describing traffic conditions as heavy and confirming emergency services were on scene.
The NSW Rural Fire Service said the grass fire is at emergency telephone 611 on the M1 Pacific Motorway northbound, West Wallsend, and the fire is at Advice level and under control as of 4.22pm.
