newy.com.au – Lake Macquarie Police District officers patrolled the Fernleigh Track and other shared pathways between Belmont and Speers Point between 10am and 8pm on Saturday, March 14, as part of an operation focused on e-bike safety.
Police carried out patrols on foot and on e-bikes, speaking with more than 80 young people to provide education about e-bike safety and legal requirements.
Police said most people using the pathways were considerate of others, but one rider was issued with an infringement and 12 others were dealt with under the Young Offenders Act for helmet and mobile phone offences.
Lake Macquarie Police District said it would continue operations of this kind to support education and improve safety for everyone using shared pathways.
