newy.com.au – A teenage boy has been charged after a police vehicle was allegedly damaged outside Belmont Police Station in Lake Macquarie early on Friday.

Police said they were alerted about 3.50am on Friday, 13 March 2026, to damage to a police vehicle outside the station. Following inquiries, officers allegedly found four windows of a parked police vehicle had been smashed with a hammer.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested a short time later on Herbert Street, near Belmont Police Station. He was charged with breach of bail, destroy or damage property, armed with intent commit indictable offence, and hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.

He was refused bail to appear before a children’s court on Friday, where he was formally refused bail to reappear before the same court on Monday, 16 March.
