Motorbike rider dies in Putty Road crash at Howes Valley

newy.com.au – A motorbike rider has died after a crash involving a car on Putty Road at Howes Valley in the Hunter Valley on Friday morning.

Emergency services were called to the road about 10am on Friday, 13 March 2026, after reports of a crash.

Police were told a motorbike and a car collided on a bend.

The motorbike rider was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics but could not be revived. While he has not been formally identified, he is believed to be aged in his 60s.

The driver of the car, a man aged in his 80s, was taken by road to John Hunter Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and mandatory testing.

A female passenger in the car, aged in her 70s, was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.

Hunter Valley Police District has begun inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
