newy.com.au – Police are appealing for information after a man was allegedly assaulted at a Newcastle park on Tuesday night.

Police said they were notified about 9pm on Tuesday 10 March 2026 of an alleged assault at Braye Park, Waratah. Officers were told two men got out of a vehicle and assaulted a man before leaving the scene in an unknown direction.

The man, who is aged in his 60s, suffered minor lacerations and bruising and did not require medical treatment. He contacted emergency services and then drove to Waratah Police Station to report the incident.

Officers attached to Newcastle City Police District have begun inquiries and are seeking to speak with the driver and occupants of a white GWM utility seen in the area at the time.

Anyone with information, CCTV or relevant dashcam footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Information is managed on a confidential basis, and police have reminded the public not to report information through NSW Police social media pages.
