newy.com.au – The Coates Newcastle Show opens on Friday 27 February 2026 at Newcastle Showground in Broadmeadow and runs through to Sunday 1 March.

The three-day event will again combine carnival rides, showbags and agricultural competitions, with organisers adding a new pop culture program called Newy-Con to the official schedule for 2026.

Newy-Con will run across all three days inside the Exhibition Centre and will be included with Newcastle Show tickets, with activities to include a cosplay competition, live panels, pop culture stalls and character meet-and-greets.

Newcastle Show President Peter Evans said the new feature would broaden the Show’s appeal, saying: “The Coates Newcastle Show has always celebrated the best of our community and our culture. Newy Con brings an entirely new experience for families, teens and fans across the Hunter.”

Organisers behind Newy-Con also described it as overdue for the region, saying: “This is a huge moment for Newcastle. Fans have been wanting a Pop culture style event right here at home and we cannot wait to bring it to life at the Coates Newcastle Show.”

The published program lists Macka’s Pastoral Bucking Bulls Rodeo in the main arena on Friday, with two shows scheduled for 4pm and 7pm.

Fireworks are scheduled for Friday and Saturday nights, while live music billed as part of the show includes the Katie Jayne Band on Friday from 6.30pm to 9pm and the Luke Combs Experience on Saturday from 7pm to 8.30pm.

According to the show’s FAQ information, gates open at 9am each day, with the show running until 10pm on Friday and Saturday and finishing at 5pm on Sunday, with no entry after 3pm.

Ticket pricing listed by organisers from 1 February includes $30 adult entry (17 years and over), $20 for children aged five to 17 and students, $20 concessions, and a $75 family pass for two adults and two children, with children under four free but still requiring a ticket.

Organisers are encouraging people to use public transport, noting Broadmeadow train station is next to the showground, with parking also available at nearby ovals for $10 a day, and that dogs are not permitted except for accredited assistance animals or animals entered to compete.
