newy.com.au – A 40-year-old woman will face court after police charged her following the seizure of about one tonne of suspected stolen copper wire from a vehicle at Tomago on Monday afternoon.
Officers were called to a property on School Drive about 4.50pm on Monday 9 February 2026 after reports of suspicious activity, with police continuing to investigate the source of the copper.
Police from Port Stephens-Hunter Police District attended and spoke with a woman standing near a parked vehicle before making further inquiries, NSW Police said.
During a search of the vehicle, police allegedly found and seized approximately one tonne of copper wire, along with bolt cutters and a credit card in another name.
The woman was arrested and taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station, where she was charged with goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.
She appeared before Bail Division Court 2 on Tuesday 10 February 2026 after being refused bail, before being granted conditional bail to appear at Raymond Terrace Local Court on Monday 16 February 2026.
The vehicle was seized and will undergo forensic examination as investigations continue.
