newy.com.au – Maitland City Council has announced a $3.3 million road resealing program across the Maitland local government area in the Hunter, covering more than 70 local roads and running until the end of April.
The 2025/26 program will reseal more than 215,000 square metres of road surface, with works largely focused on preventative maintenance rather than rebuilds. Council said a bitumen spray is being applied over existing roads to waterproof and protect them.
Mayor Philip Penfold said the resealing was “part of our proactive approach to ensure Maitland’s roads are fit for purpose.”
“Council performs all kinds of road improvements throughout the year, but this resealing program is about protecting roads from water damage and making sure they can serve our community effectively for many years to come,” Penfold said.
Among the locations listed in this year’s program are Anambah Road at Anambah and Forest Drive at Chisholm, with sections of Mount Vincent Road at East Maitland and Maitland Vale Road at Hillsborough also included. Ferraby Drive at Metford and River Road at Windella are on the schedule as well, council said.
Funded through the council’s annual capital works program, the resealing campaign began in November and is being delivered over summer so the new road surface can bond and adhere to the existing surface in warmer weather.
Information about other upcoming road projects is available at mait.city/DPOP.
