newy.com.au – Firefighters from across Newcastle, Maitland and Raymond Terrace were called to a fully involved house fire on Troman Parade at Raymond Terrace just before 9pm on Friday, with crews later confirming no one was inside.
The blaze drew multiple appliances and crews for about an hour, while firefighters returned the following morning after a minor reignition in the building.
Fire and Rescue NSW inspector James Downey said the fire had already spread by the time firefighters arrived, prompting crews to adopt a defensive strategy.
“The fire had already spread so firefighters adopted a defensive strategy,” Downey said, adding crews later confirmed the house was unoccupied.
Downey said the blaze took about an hour to contain, with five fire trucks and around 25 firefighters on scene.
He said crews returned again on Saturday morning to deal with a minor reignition in the building.
