newy.com.au – A 60-year-old man has died in hospital following a motorcycle crash last month on Industrial Drive at Mayfield (Tuesday 18 November 2025).
Police said the man had been in a critical condition since the crash, which is now the subject of an ongoing investigation and will be the subject of a report for the Coroner.
Emergency services were called to Industrial Drive about 12.15pm on Tuesday 18 November after reports of a collision between a motorcycle and a truck.
Officers from Newcastle City Police District arrived to find the motorcycle rider critically injured after crashing into a truck.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man at the scene before he was taken to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition, where police said he later died.
The truck driver, a 48-year-old man, was not reported to be injured but was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
Police established a crime scene on Industrial Drive and began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. Those inquiries are continuing.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner outlining the details of the crash and the man’s death.
As investigations continue, police have appealed for anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area at the time to contact Newcastle Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Crime Stoppers can also be contacted online, with information to be provided confidentially, and police have reminded the public not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
