newy.com.au – A one-year-old girl has died after being struck by a utility at Tanilba Bay in the Port Stephens region on Tuesday evening.
According to NSW Police, emergency services were called to Lloyd George Grove, Tanilba Bay, about 5.40pm on Tuesday 9 December 2025.
Officers from Port Stephens-Hunter Police District arrived to find the girl had been struck by a Toyota utility on the property.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the one-year-old at the scene before she was taken to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle in a critical condition, where she later died.
Police said the driver of the vehicle, a 25-year-old man, was not physically injured in the incident.
He was taken to hospital for mandatory testing, which is standard procedure following serious crashes in New South Wales.
In a statement, NSW Police said “Police have commenced an investigation into the cause of the crash.”
Police also stated that “A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.”
Officers from Port Stephens-Hunter Police District are continuing inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash, and the coroner’s report will examine how the toddler came to be fatally injured on the property.
