A young motorcyclist has lost his life following a collision with a utility in Lake Macquarie this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to Clydebank Road in Balmoral, approximately 4km south of Toronto, at about 12:55 pm today (Wednesday, 10 December 2025) following reports of a serious crash.
Upon arrival, officers from the Lake Macquarie Police District were told a motorbike and a ute had collided near the intersection of Kooringal Close.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the rider at the scene; however, he could not be revived.
While the rider has not yet been formally identified, police believe he is a man aged in his 20s.
The driver of the utility, a 55-year-old man, was uninjured in the crash. He was transported to John Hunter Hospital for mandatory testing.
A crime scene has been established on Clydebank Road, with the Crash Investigation Unit assisting local detectives as they piece together the circumstances surrounding the event.
Police are appealing for public assistance as inquiries continue. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who has CCTV or dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident, is urged to come forward.
