newy.com.au – Four boys, the youngest just 11 years old, have been charged following a chaotic police pursuit on Tuesday morning that resulted in collisions with two patrol cars.

The incident began at 6:50 am at Heatherbrae, when officers attached to Operation Soteria attempted to pull over an allegedly stolen vehicle on the Pacific Highway. When the driver refused to stop, a pursuit was initiated but quickly terminated near Karuah due to safety concerns.

Police re-located the vehicle a short time later travelling north near Tea Gardens. During the second engagement, the vehicle allegedly crashed into a median strip near Nabiac before executing a U-turn and colliding with two marked police cars.

Despite the collision, the vehicle continued northbound until road spikes were successfully deployed. The car eventually came to a halt after striking a road sign.

Four occupants, aged 11, 13, 14, and 15 fled the scene on foot but were arrested a short distance away. All four were taken to Taree Police Station.

The alleged driver, a 15-year-old boy, was charged with police pursuit, failing to stop, driving dangerously, and driving a conveyance taken without consent of the owner. He was refused bail and appeared at Parramatta Bail Division Court on Tuesday, December 9. He was granted bail to appear before a children’s court on December 16.

The three passengers were each charged with being carried in a conveyance taken without consent of the owner.

The 13-year-old and 14-year-old were initially refused bail but later granted conditional release to appear in children’s court on December 11, 2025, and March 2, 2026, respectively. The 11-year-old was granted conditional bail and is due to face court on February 5, 2026.
