newy.com.au – Newcastle’s largest Christmas carols event will return to Lambton Park on Sunday 21 December 2025, with a free community celebration running from 5pm to 9pm.

The independently run Lambton Park Carols has become a fixture on the city’s Christmas calendar, with organisers describing it as Newcastle’s biggest carols gathering and a chance for families and friends to celebrate together in the lead-up to Christmas.

Hosted by Hunter Bible Church, the event will again take over Lambton Oval at Lambton Park, offering a family carnival atmosphere alongside a full evening of live music and traditional and contemporary carols. Organisers say the night is designed for the wider Newcastle community, with no entry fee and activities aimed at all ages.

Gates will open from 5pm for a Christmas family carnival featuring local food trucks, stalls, activities and amusement rides. The main carols program is scheduled to begin on stage at 7pm, before the night wraps up with a fireworks finale at about 9pm above the park.

Crowds can expect a mix of classic Christmas favourites and newer arrangements, with organisers promising songs and entertainment for children as well as sing-along carols for adults. Visitors are encouraged to get a group together and enjoy a picnic in the park, with a site map available online showing the locations of the stage, food vendors, amusements, toilets and fireworks exclusion areas.

“This event is all about celebrating the joy of Christmas with our community,” event coordinator Sam Hilton said. “It’s a chance for families, friends, and neighbours to come together, enjoy wonderful music, and get into the Christmas spirit in a very Newcastle way.”

Lambton Park Carols is promoted as a free, family-friendly and alcohol-free event, with organisers positioning it as an accessible option for households looking to mark the festive season without significant cost. The carols will also be simulcast on local radio station Rhema FM for those who cannot make it to Lambton.

The event is brought to the community by Hunter Bible Church with support from a number of local business partners, acknowledged on the official website. Organisers say the backing of sponsors helps cover staging, production and infrastructure, including fencing, lighting and other equipment needed to run the large outdoor gathering safely.

Lambton Park Carols is held on the Lambton Oval section of Lambton Park, near the corner of Elder Street and Morehead Street in Lambton. Online directions are available, and organisers note the location is a central point for people travelling from across Newcastle and surrounding suburbs.

Local media have been invited to cover the night, with interviews, photo opportunities and vision of performances and crowd activities to be made available. A media kit and contact details for the organising team are published on the Lambton Park Carols website.

Lambton Park Carols will run from 5pm to 9pm on Sunday 21 December 2025 at Lambton Park, with more information, including FAQs and updates, available at lambtoncarols.com.au and via the event’s social media channels.
