newy.com.au – Motorists are being advised of overnight traffic changes on Maitland Road at Mayfield West on Thursday 20 November, with resurfacing works to close lanes between Riverside Drive and Terry Street from 8pm to 5am.
The maintenance work will involve road resurfacing on this busy section of Maitland Road/Pacific Highway, with the City of Newcastle carrying out the project on behalf of Transport for NSW to improve the condition of the road while limiting disruption to daytime traffic.
To reduce impacts on motorists, the work has been scheduled to take place overnight on Thursday 20 November between 8pm and 5am, with the job expected to be completed in one night, weather permitting.
During the work there will be no right turn onto Maitland Road/Pacific Highway between Riverside Drive and Terry Street. Motorists travelling through the area will be detoured via a left turn onto Maitland Road/Pacific Highway and directed to use the Warabrook Boulevard roundabout to return to the Pacific Highway.
The traffic notice states that “single lane closures, traffic control with stop/slow traffic arrangements and a 40km/h speed limit will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists”. These arrangements will apply throughout the work zone while resurfacing is underway.
Drivers are also being reminded to obey the temporary traffic arrangements while crews are on site. “Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control,” the notice said.
Further information about the works and any changes to traffic conditions is available via the Live Traffic NSW service. Motorists can visit the Live Traffic website, use the Live Traffic NSW app or call 132 701 for updates.
People who want alerts direct to their phone have been advised to search for “Mayfield West” in the Live Traffic app, select the relevant incident and click “Follow” to receive notifications while the overnight resurfacing is carried out.
