Wallsend woman injured, two men charged over alleged home invasion

newy.com.au – Two men have been charged following an alleged home invasion in Wallsend last week that left a young woman injured.

Police said officers were called to a unit on McNaughton Avenue about 12.40am on Thursday 14 August 2025 after reports of an aggravated break and enter. A 21-year-old woman was allegedly threatened with a knife and assaulted by two men inside the property.

The woman was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to John Hunter Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A crime scene was established and Newcastle City Police District officers began an investigation.

After a week of inquiries, police made two arrests on Thursday 21 August. Around 12.45pm, a 25-year-old man was arrested at Campbelltown Railway Station with the assistance of Police Transport Command. He was charged with aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence, assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of others, demand property by force in company with intent to steal, and destroy property in company using fire.

He was refused bail and was due to appear before Campbelltown Local Court on Friday 22 August.

Later the same day, about 3.40pm, a second 25-year-old man was arrested at a unit on Henry Kendall Street, West Gosford, with support from the Public Order and Riot Squad. He was taken to Gosford Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence while armed, assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of others, demand property by force in company with intent to steal, destroy property in company using fire, choke person with intent to commit an indictable offence, and use of a prohibited weapon contrary to a prohibition order.

He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 6 on Friday.

Police said investigations into the incident are continuing.
