Driver killed in two-truck crash on M1 near Morisset

newy.com.au – A truck driver has died following a collision involving two trucks on the M1 near Morisset this afternoon, 22 July 2025.

Emergency services were called to the southbound lanes of the motorway at approximately 2.45pm after reports of the crash. One male driver was pronounced dead at the scene before paramedics arrived. His identity has not yet been confirmed.

The driver of the second truck, a 57-year-old man, was not injured in the incident.

A crime scene has been established by officers from Lake Macquarie Police District, with specialist police expected to attend. Southbound lanes of the M1 remain closed, and significant traffic diversions are in place. Authorities have advised motorists to avoid the area as the investigation continues.

It is currently taking 1 hour to drive from Cooranbong to the Morisset shops via the M1, newy.com.au advises motorists should avoid the area and take the A43 Pacific Highway instead.

Police are appealing for witnesses, particularly anyone with dashcam or mobile phone footage from the area around the time of the crash, to contact Morisset Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
