newy.com.au – Police are investigating the discovery of a body found in a drain near Waratah train station in Newcastle on 22 July 2025.
Emergency services focused their efforts on the stormwater system close to the station.
Details surrounding the discovery have not yet been confirmed however it is believed a 55-year-old male passed away.
Despite the police presence, a Newy 87.8 listener reported that Waratah train station remains open and train services are continuing to operate.
The investigation is ongoing and it is believed that the death is not being treated as suspicious and was a personal matter for the person who passed away.
