Traffic will be in a contraflow arrangement on the southbound lanes of Maitland Road from Sparke Street to Fenwick Street

newy.com.au – Motorists travelling along Maitland Road at Hexham are being warned of changed traffic conditions from Sunday 20 July as part of the ongoing Hexham Straight Widening project.

Overnight works will take place between 7pm and 5am, with contraflow arrangements in place on the southbound lanes between Sparke Street and Fenwick Street. A reduced speed limit of 40 kilometres per hour will apply during these hours.

A permanent reduced speed limit of 60 kilometres per hour remains in effect through the work zone during the day, which will again drop to 40 kilometres per hour overnight. Major works will continue during standard hours from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 1pm Saturday, and out-of-hours work will occur between 7pm and 7am from Sunday to Thursday.

Oversize and overmass (OSOM) operators with ground contact wider than 3.4 metres or an overall width greater than 4.5 metres must contact the project team on 1800 515 141 at least one day before travelling through the area. The project uses UHF channel 45 for site communications. Delays are expected for operators who do not provide advance notice.

Transport for NSW reminded all permit vehicles not to travel off approved routes without updated permits from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR).

Drivers are advised to follow signage and the directions of traffic controllers, consider alternate routes, and allow up to 15 minutes of additional travel time during works.

Further details can be found at Live Traffic NSW, via the Live Traffic app, or by calling 132 701.
