newy.com.au – Two men have been charged after an alleged police pursuit through Lake Macquarie on the afternoon of 2 July 2025.

Police were patrolling the Windale area about 2.55pm when they attempted to stop an SUV on Lachlan Street. The driver allegedly failed to comply, prompting officers to initiate a pursuit.

Attempts to deploy road spikes were unsuccessful, with the SUV reportedly evading them and continuing toward Redhead. The pursuit was terminated on Kalaroo Road after the vehicle allegedly breached bollards and entered the Fernleigh Walking Track.

A search of the surrounding area led officers to a nearby fire trail, where they arrested two men, aged 26 and 28, following a foot pursuit.

Police allege that a search of the 26-year-old’s bag uncovered 12.65 grams of methamphetamine, $450 in cash, a knife, tablets, and other items.

Both men were taken to Belmont Police Station for questioning. The 28-year-old was later charged with police pursuit for not stopping and driving dangerously, as well as driving while disqualified.

The 26-year-old was charged with supplying a prohibited drug, possessing a restricted substance, possessing or using a prohibited weapon without a permit, having suspected stolen goods, and possessing housebreaking implements.

The pair were refused bail and are scheduled to appear in Parramatta Local Court on 3 July 2025.
