newy.com.au – A woman is due to appear in court today after being charged over an alleged arson attack at a business in Hamilton on the weekend.
Emergency services were called to a massage clinic on Beaumont Street around 6am on Saturday, 28 June 2025, following reports of a fire. According to police, a woman allegedly set the blaze against the building’s exterior wall before fleeing the scene.
Fire and Rescue NSW crews arrived to contain and extinguish the fire, which caused damage to the exterior wall and roof space. A 63-year-old woman who was inside the premises at the time was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for smoke inhalation.
Following investigations, police attended a unit on Fowler Street in Hamilton South around 12.30pm on Sunday, 29 June. A 37-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Newcastle Police Station, where she was charged with damaging property by fire or explosive to the value of over $15,000.
She was refused bail and is scheduled to appear in Parramatta Local Court today, Monday 30 June 2025.
