Alleged Crime Spree Leads to Arrests in Newcastle and Lake Macquarie

newy.com.au – A man and woman have been charged over a series of alleged property crimes stretching across Newcastle and Lake Macquarie, following an investigation by local police.

The Newcastle City Police District’s Proactive Crime Team launched inquiries into a string of offences believed to be linked, occurring between Sunday, 2 February 2025 and Tuesday, 1 April 2025. The alleged incidents took place at a residential property in Wallsend and at several businesses located in Charlestown, Hamilton South and Adamstown.

Among the items reported stolen were a mountain bike, various power tools, dental implants, handbags, and personal identification documents.

Police carried out a search warrant at a home on Davis Avenue in Wallsend at approximately 6:50am on Thursday, 4 April 2025. There, officers arrested a 41-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman, who were both taken to Waratah Police Station for questioning.

The man has since been charged with two counts of aggravated break and enter in company to steal, as well as a breach of bail. He was refused bail and appeared before Newcastle Local Court on Thursday, 4 April 2025, where he was again refused bail. He is due to reappear on Thursday, 17 April 2025.

The woman faces four counts of aggravated break and enter in company to steal. She was also refused bail for her initial court appearance, but was later granted conditional bail. She is scheduled to reappear at Newcastle Local Court on Thursday, 17 April 2025.
