newy.com.au – Three teenage boys have been charged following an alleged daylight robbery at a Metford bottle shop, just outside Maitland, on Thursday, 27 March 2025.
Police were called to the liquor store on Chelmsford Drive around 11.10am after reports that a group of young males had entered the store and allegedly threatened to stab a staff member before fleeing with bottles of alcohol.
After a swift investigation, officers arrested two 15-year-old boys the following day, Friday, 28 March 2025. One was charged with robbery in company, while the other is facing charges of robbery in company and two counts of shoplifting. Both were released on strict conditional bail and are set to appear before a children’s court on Thursday, 17 April 2025.
The third suspect, a 14-year-old boy, was arrested on Tuesday, 1 April 2025, as inquiries continued. He has been charged with robbery in company, two counts of shoplifting, and seven counts of dishonestly obtaining a financial advantage by deception in a separate incident. He too has been granted conditional bail and will appear before the same children’s court on Thursday, 17 April 2025.
Investigations are ongoing under the Port Stephens-Hunter Police District.
