Man Charged Over Alleged Assault at Newcastle West Venue

A Queensland man has been charged following an alleged assault on a woman at the Rogue Scholar Newcastle West in mid-March.

Police from the Newcastle City Police District began investigating after reports surfaced of an incident that took place around 11.15pm on Saturday, 15 March 2025.

It’s alleged a 31-year-old woman was assaulted by a man during the night, resulting in her sustaining head and facial injuries that required medical treatment.

Following a detailed investigation, police identified a 43-year-old man from Ipswich, Queensland, as a suspect. He has now been served with a future court attendance notice for assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray.

The man is expected to face Newcastle Local Court on Thursday, 8 May 2025.
