Woman charged over alleged drug supply in Newcastle hotel room raid

A 20-year-old woman has been charged with multiple drug-related offences following a police raid at a Newcastle hotel.

Officers from Newcastle City Police District’s Proactive Crime Team attended a hotel room on Hunter Street around 1.15pm on Thursday, 20 March, as part of an ongoing investigation into drug supply.

During a search of the room, police allegedly seized a large quantity of illicit substances, including:

  • 109 grams of psilocybin capsules
  • 72.8 grams of dried psilocybin
  • 3.1 grams of cocaine
  • 27.35 grams of pink cocaine
  • 62.4 grams of MDMA
  • 441.55 grams of cannabis
  • Several prescription medications

The woman was arrested at the scene and taken to Newcastle Police Station, where she was charged with seven offences:

  • Two counts of possess prohibited drug
  • Two counts of supply prohibited drug (greater than indictable, less than commercial quantity)
  • Supply prohibited drug (equal to or greater than large commercial quantity)
  • Supply cannabis (greater than indictable, less than commercial quantity)
  • Possess or attempt to possess a prescribed restricted substance

She was refused bail and is due to appear before Newcastle Local Court today, Friday 21 March 2025.
