newy.com.au – A 14-year-old boy has been charged following an alleged high-speed police pursuit involving a stolen vehicle across The Central Coast and Lake Macquarie in the early hours of Sunday, 16 March 2025.

At around 4am, police on patrol in Long Jetty attempted to pull over a white Nissan Pathfinder for a routine roadside breath test. However, the driver allegedly failed to stop, triggering a pursuit that stretched across multiple suburbs, including The Entrance, Toukley, Budgewoi, Lake Munmorah, Pelican, Swansea, and Belmont.

The chase came to an end on the Pacific Highway at Pelican after officers successfully deployed road spikes. Five teenagers were taken into custody at the scene.

Following their arrest, the group was transported to Belmont Police Station, where a 14-year-old boy was charged with multiple offences, including taking and driving a vehicle without the owner’s consent, carrying a knife in public, unlawfully entering a vehicle, and dangerous driving during a police pursuit. He was refused bail and is set to appear in a Children’s Court today.

The other occupants of the vehicle, three girls aged 12, 14, and 15, and another 15-year-old girl, were dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit NSW Crime Stoppers. All reports are handled confidentially.
