newy.com.au – Motorists should prepare for changed traffic conditions between Sunday, 16 March, and Friday, 21 March, as construction work continues on the M1 Pacific Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace. To reduce disruption, much of the work will be carried out at night across several locations.

Key changes include:

  • Monday, 17 March, and Tuesday, 18 March (7pm – 5am): The eastbound off-ramp from New England Highway to Anderson Drive will be closed. A detour via New England Highway/Maitland Road will be in place, weather permitting.
  • Monday, 17 March; Tuesday, 18 March; and Thursday, 20 March (7pm – 5am): Contraflow arrangements will be in effect for both eastbound and westbound lanes on New England Highway from Tarro Rail Bridge to John Renshaw Drive.
  • Sunday, 16 March, and Tuesday, 18 March (7pm – 5am): Northbound maintenance closures on the M1 Pacific Motorway between Hunter Expressway and John Renshaw Drive at Beresfield and Black Hill.
  • Wednesday, 19 March, and Thursday, 20 March (7pm – 5am): Southbound maintenance closures on the M1 Pacific Motorway between John Renshaw Drive and Hunter Expressway at Beresfield and Black Hill.

Oversize and over-mass vehicle operators must contact the project team at least 24 hours before travel on 0423 323 946 to avoid delays. Vehicles travelling under permit must stay on approved routes unless an updated permit is obtained from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator.

Day and Night Lane Closures

Additional lane closures and intermittent stoppages will occur with speed limits reduced to 40km/h at the following locations:

Night works (7pm – 5am, Monday 17 March to Friday 21 March):

  • M1 Pacific Motorway at Beresfield and Black Hill
  • John Renshaw Drive at Beresfield
  • New England Highway at Tarro
  • Pacific Highway at Tomago and Heatherbrae

Day works (7am – 5pm, Monday 17 March to Friday 21 March):

  • Lenaghans Drive at Black Hill
  • Old Punt Road near Pacific Highway at Tomago
  • New England Highway Eastbound at Tarro
  • Motorists should allow extra travel time and follow the instructions of signs and traffic controllers. Transport for NSW appreciates the public’s patience as work progresses.
