newy.com.au – Five senior members and associates of the Finks outlaw motorcycle gang (OMCG) have been charged following an investigation into an alleged attempted aggravated break and enter in Belmont North last month.

Around 1:50am on Sunday, 23 February 2025, police were called to a home on Marian Place in Belmont North after reports that a group of men were attempting to force their way inside. Witnesses also reported hearing gunshots during the incident.

Shortly after, a 38-year-old man arrived at a hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his abdomen. Local authorities launched an initial investigation before referring the case to the Raptor Squad under Strike Force Altvan.

Following extensive inquiries, officers carried out a series of arrests on Thursday, 13 March 2025. At about 6am, three men—aged 25, 26, and 29—were taken into custody at an address on the Hume Highway in Liverpool. A search of the property led to the discovery of Finks OMCG paraphernalia, mobile phones, and an Audi A5.

The 25-year-old man was hit with multiple charges, including aggravated break and enter with intent, affray, participation in a criminal group, concealing a serious indictable offence, and failing to comply with a digital evidence access order. The 26-year-old was charged with aggravated break and enter with intent and concealing a serious indictable offence. Meanwhile, the 29-year-old faced similar charges, in addition to failing to disclose the identity of a driver or passenger and failing to comply with a digital evidence access order. All three were denied bail and were set to appear in Liverpool Local Court on Friday, 14 March 2025.

In a separate arrest around 6am the same day, officers apprehended a 47-year-old man at his Moorebank home, where they also seized a cannabis plant and a slingshot. He was charged with cultivating a prohibited plant and possessing an illegal weapon. He was granted conditional bail and is due to face Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday, 19 March 2025.

Later that morning, around 6:20am, another suspect—a 38-year-old man—was arrested at John Hunter Hospital. He was taken to Waratah Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter with intent, affray, failure to comply with a digital evidence access order, and participation in a criminal group. He was also refused bail and appeared in Newcastle Local Court on the same day.

Police allege the break-in was a targeted attack and that one of the men was shot during the attempted entry. Investigations under Strike Force Altvan are ongoing.
