newy.com.au – Motorists travelling on the M1 Pacific Motorway should prepare for overnight closures next week as essential maintenance work is carried out between the Hunter Expressway and the John Renshaw Drive intersection.

The northbound lanes will be closed from 7:30pm to 4:30am on the nights of Sunday, 16 March, Monday, 17 March, and Tuesday, 18 March, with the motorway reopening at 4:30am on Wednesday, 19 March, weather permitting.

Following this, southbound lanes will be closed during the same hours on Wednesday, 19 March, and Thursday, 20 March, with normal traffic resuming from 4:30am on Friday, 21 March.

A detour via John Renshaw Drive and the Hunter Expressway will be in place, adding approximately 10km or 10-15 minutes to journey times. Electronic message signs will be in place to guide motorists, and traffic controllers will be present to ensure safety.

The scheduled works include road resurfacing, drainage improvements, bridge maintenance, litter collection, and mowing, all of which require full lane closures to be completed effectively.

Heavy vehicle operators with Class One, Two, or Three permits must ensure they remain on the approved route listed in their permit unless an updated permit is obtained from the National Heavy Vehicle Register.

Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time, follow signage, and adhere to speed limits. If additional closures are required due to weather conditions, further electronic messages will provide updates.
