A young man has tragically passed away in hospital following a serious head-on collision near Singleton last week.
Emergency services were called to the New England Highway at McDougalls Hill around 6:15 am on Wednesday, 5 March 2025, after reports of a crash involving an SUV and a utility, approximately 300 metres south of the Magpie Street intersection.
The 25-year-old driver of the utility sustained critical injuries and was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to John Hunter Hospital. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries on Friday, 7 March 2025.
The driver of the SUV, a 59-year-old man, was also treated at the scene before being transported by road to John Hunter Hospital with minor injuries.
Hunter Valley Police District officers established a crime scene, which was forensically examined as part of ongoing investigations. A report is being prepared for the Coroner.
