newy.com.au – Port Stephens Council has announced that Medowie Social, a central community venue established in 2020, is set to transition into a registered club. The Council is currently inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from potential buyers or lessees to oversee this transformation.

Situated at 36A Ferodale Road, Medowie Social was initially developed as a multipurpose sports and community facility. In 2024, a community survey revealed that nearly 80% of the 1,200 respondents supported its conversion into a registered club. Subsequently, a development application for this change of use was submitted and approved.

Mayor Leah Anderson expressed enthusiasm about the venue’s potential evolution, stating that it presents a unique opportunity for an operator to establish a vibrant club that serves both residents and visitors. She also acknowledged the community’s active participation in shaping the facility’s future and encouraged continued support for the current operators during the EOI process, which is scheduled to conclude in late April 2025.

The venue boasts a commercial kitchen and bar, seating for 200 patrons, two function rooms accommodating an additional 160 guests, an office, two meeting rooms, and space earmarked for potential developments such as a second bowling green, subject to Council approval.
