newy.com.au – Motorists should prepare for changed traffic conditions next week as construction continues on the M1 Pacific Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace. To minimise disruptions, key work will take place overnight at several locations.

From 7pm to 5am on Monday 10 March, Tuesday 11 March, and Thursday 13 March 2025, the eastbound off-ramp from the New England Highway to Anderson Drive will be closed. A detour will be in place via the New England Highway and Maitland Road, weather permitting.

Additionally, from the night of Monday 10 March, southbound traffic on the Pacific Highway will be diverted onto a new section of road between Heatherbrae and Old Punt Road, subject to weather conditions.

Oversize and Heavy Vehicle Operators

Drivers of oversize and overmass vehicles with a ground contact width wider than 3.2 metres or an overall width exceeding 4.5 metres must contact the project team at 0423 323 946 at least one day before travel. Failure to do so could result in significant delays.

Operators of Class 1, 2, and 3 vehicles should check their enforceable network maps for approved alternative routes, while vehicles travelling under a permit must not deviate from their designated routes without obtaining an updated permit from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator.

Ongoing Construction and Traffic Impacts

Major construction will continue across the project zone with standard work hours from 7am to 6pm weekdays and 8am to 5pm on Saturdays, alongside night works from 7pm to 5am on weeknights.

Motorists should also be aware of lane closures, intermittent stoppages, and reduced speed limits (40km/h) at the following locations:

From 7pm to 5am, Monday 10 March to Friday 14 March:

  • M1 Pacific Motorway at Beresfield and Black Hill
  • John Renshaw Drive at Beresfield
  • New England Highway at Tarro
  • Pacific Highway at Tomago and Heatherbrae

From 7am to 5pm, Monday 10 March to Friday 14 March:

  • Lenaghans Drive at Black Hill
  • Old Punt Road near Pacific Highway at Tomago
  • New England Highway eastbound at Tarro

Motorists are urged to allow extra travel time and follow directions from traffic signs and controllers. Transport for NSW thanks the public for their patience.
