GATESHEAD: Gunshot Victim Dumped at Door of Lake Macquarie Private Hospital, Driver Fled Scene
A man is fighting for his life after being shot and left at a hospital just South of Newcastle on Thursday night.
Officers from Lake Macquarie Police District attended the Lake Macquarie Private Hospital on Sydney Street, Gateshead. Upon arrival, they found a young man who had sustained a gunshot wound to his chest.
According to a witness who spoke to newy.com.au at the scene, “A vehicle sped through the driveway then quickly dumped the injured man at the door, and drove off at high speed. Soon after, someone from the hospital walked out and brought the victim inside.”
The injured man was provided medical attention and transported to the John Hunter Hospital by ambulance in a critical condition.
NSW Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, with inquiries ongoing to determine precisely where and how the man sustained his injuries.
Police have urged anyone with information or dashcam footage of suspicious activity in the area around Sydney Street to come forward. No arrests have been made at this stage.
