Construction is officially underway on Chisholm Plaza, marking a significant milestone for the rapidly growing communities of Chisholm and Maitland.
Developed by Revelop in partnership with Richard Crookes Constructions, the plaza is set to become a major shopping and community hub, featuring more than 50 specialty stores anchored by major retailers. The shopping centre, located within the Waterford development, will house fresh food outlets, a butcher, bakery, beauty services, and fitness facilities, all designed to provide convenience and a vibrant community atmosphere.
At a groundbreaking ceremony hosted by Revelop and Richard Crookes Constructions, Revelop’s Anthony El Hazari acknowledged the lengthy planning process, describing the plaza as a long-awaited project for the community.
“This isn’t just a shopping centre,” said a representative from Revelop. “It’s about convenience, quality, and building a strong sense of community where families can shop, relax, and access essential services all in one place.”
The centre will include more than 50 specialty stores anchored by major retailers, complemented by fresh food outlets, beauty services, fitness facilities, and essential services like a butcher and baker. A total of 638 parking spaces, including an undercroft area and dedicated pedestrian pathways, will further enhance convenience.
Richard Crookes Constructions’ Anthony Garrity expressed pride in contributing to a development that meets local needs.
“We’ve been working in this region for over four years and fully understand how highly anticipated this shopping centre is,” Garrity said.
The project has received strong backing from Maitland City Council and the broader community. Mayor Philip Penfold described the development as a “game-changer,” complemented by council-led investments in community facilities, sporting grounds, and infrastructure upgrades.
“This nine-figure investment is transformative for Chisholm,” Mayor Penfold said.
With construction expected to take around 18 months, Revelop has committed to providing regular updates on new retailers and project milestones via social media and the project’s dedicated website.
Federal, state, and local government representatives, including Mayor Penfold, attended the event, reaffirming their strong support for local community projects.
“Keeping services local is critical,” Mayor Penfold said. “This centre is about bringing people together.”
Chisholm Plaza is expected to open its doors to shoppers and residents in mid-2025.
