An early morning incident unfolded in Wallsend in Newcastle when a car ploughed through a fence and into the rear yard of a residential property. The crash occurred just after 4:00am today (Monday, 10 February 2025), followed by an emergency response from Fire and Rescue Wallsend.
Newcastle Police officers arrived at Douglas Street, where reports indicated that the vehicle’s occupants had abandoned the car and fled towards Birchgrove Drive.
Firefighters from Fire & Rescue Wallsend assisted in the removal of the vehicle, which was later towed away as investigations into the incident commenced. Authorities are now calling on members of the public who may have witnessed the crash or have CCTV footage to assist in the investigation.
Dylan Matheson said on social media “Just a friendly reminder that the crackies are out there still taking peoples things. Last night my car was taken from Englund street and written off. The bloke fled the scene albeit very bloodied and bruised. For those wondering yes my car was locked still have no idea how he stole it bit of a shock on Monday morning”.
Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact Newcastle City Police District or Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000. Reports can also be submitted anonymously via the Crime Stoppers website.
