newy.com.au – A man is set to appear in a Sydney court today after police allegedly discovered a package containing illicit drugs hidden in his pants during a traffic stop in Wallsend early this morning.

Around 2am on Sunday, 9 February 2025, officers from the Newcastle City Police District pulled over a utility on Lowrey Lane, Wallsend, after noticing it swerving on the road. Upon searching the vehicle, police allegedly found more than 250 grams of methylamphetamine concealed in the pants of the front-seat passenger.

The estimated street value of the seized drugs is approximately $400,000. The 34-year-old passenger reportedly attempted to flee the scene but was quickly apprehended and taken to Waratah Police Station.

He has been charged with supplying a prohibited drug in a quantity exceeding the commercial threshold. Bail was refused, and the man is scheduled to appear before Parramatta Local Court later today.
