newy.com.au – A 19-year-old woman is due in Newcastle Local Court today after being charged with aggravated robbery following a dramatic late-night incident in Newcastle West.

At about 1am on Saturday, 1 February 2025, police were alerted to a robbery at a carpark on Steel Street. Eyewitnesses reported that two 21-year-old women were walking past a small group when the suspect suddenly approached. She allegedly demanded cash and threatened to stab one of the women before making off with her handbag.

Following a thorough investigation, detectives quickly gathered evidence at the scene. The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Alexzandria Lola Michalopoulos-Donohue, was apprehended at Newcastle Police Station at around 1.20pm on Monday, 3 February 2025. She has been charged with aggravated robbery and was refused bail, with her matter adjourned until next month.
