newy.com.au – Police have arrested two teenagers following a dramatic pursuit and investigation into a break and enter incident at Wallsend, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, 2nd November 2024.

The break-in led to a vehicle being stolen from the premises. In the early hours of Sunday, 3rd November, Newcastle City Police officers, who were patrolling Birmingham Gardens, spotted the stolen vehicle, prompting a pursuit. The chase ended when the vehicle was found abandoned a short time later in Jesmond, where it was secured and impounded for forensic examination.

On Monday, 4th November 2024, police executed a search warrant at a Jesmond residence. A 17-year-old male and a 16-year-old female were taken into custody. The male faces several serious charges, including aggravated break and enter in company with intent to steal, taking and driving a conveyance without the owner’s consent, driving unlicensed, and failing to stop for police in a dangerous pursuit. Additionally, he is charged with an attempted aggravated break and enter.

The 16-year-old female was charged with being a passenger in a conveyance without the owner’s consent, among other unrelated offences. Both teenagers were refused bail and appeared at Broadmeadow Children’s Court on the same day, 4th November 2024.

The investigation continues as authorities work to gather further evidence surrounding the incident.
