A 16-year-old girl has been arrested and charged following two break-ins in the Newcastle West area, involving theft from local commercial premises.

In the early hours of Wednesday, 16 October 2024, police were called to a commercial property on Honeysuckle Drive after receiving reports of a break and enter. A group of offenders allegedly forced entry into the premises and stole a significant amount of alcohol.

Police quickly responded with multiple resources, and shortly after the incident, they apprehended a teenage girl. She was taken to Newcastle Police Station, where she was charged with aggravated break and enter in company.

Further investigations revealed that the same individual was allegedly involved in another break-in that occurred the previous night at a nearby licensed venue. As a result, she faced an additional charge of aggravated break, enter, and steal in company.

The young offender was refused bail and is scheduled to appear in Broadmeadow Children’s Court today.

Police have not ruled out the possibility of further arrests as they continue to investigate the involvement of others in the incidents. Anyone with information is urged to contact Newcastle City Police.
