Tamika Upton, fullback for the nib Newcastle Knights, has been named the NRLW Player of the Year for the second year in a row, following an outstanding 2024 campaign. The Queensland Origin star played in all ten games of the season, showcasing her skills by scoring seven tries, assisting in 13 others, and averaging 125 running metres per match.

Upton’s on-field brilliance was instrumental in leading the Knights to their third consecutive finals appearance, ultimately finishing just one win short of a Grand Final berth. Her consistency and attacking prowess made her a standout in a competitive NRLW season.

The Knights’ NRLW awards night, held to celebrate the efforts of players and staff throughout 2024, saw several players recognised for their contributions. Laishon Albert-Jones received the Players’ Player Award, reflecting her teammates’ high regard for her efforts, while Olivia Higgins was honoured with the Gladiator of the Year Award, presented by the Once A Knight Old Boys group.

Yasmin Clydsdale, the NRLW Second Rower of the Year, was recognised for her incredible season with the Knight in Shining Armour Award. Tenika Willison, who had an impressive debut, was named Rookie of the Year, while Kayla Romaniuk’s dedication to community initiatives earned her the NRLW Community Player of the Year Award.

The celebrations also extended to the NSW Women’s Premiership team, who reached the Grand Final in 2024. Joeli Morris claimed the Player of the Year Award, while Evah McEwen and Mel Howard were jointly awarded the Players’ Player Award for their contributions throughout the season.
