Background

Adamstown residents were shocked by an incident on Wednesday morning, 25 September 2024, when a collision and alleged assault unfolded on Brunker Road.

Emergency services rushed to the scene around 8:25 am after reports of a two-car crash. Officers from Newcastle City Police District discovered that a Mazda 2, driven by a 40-year-old man, had collided with a Hyundai Tucson. The driver of the Hyundai remains unidentified.

As the Mazda driver approached the other vehicle’s driver, the Hyundai driver allegedly struck the man before speeding away from the scene. Remarkably, the Mazda driver was not injured during the incident.

Police have established a crime scene and launched an investigation into the matter. Authorities are appealing for anyone with information about the Hyundai driver or who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Residents expressed concern over the event. “People are getting more aggressive on the roads it’s scary.” one local said.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Newcastle City Police District or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
