The NSW Government is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) for suitable land to construct a new ambulance station in East Maitland. This move is part of the broader $615.5 million NSW Ambulance Infrastructure Program aimed at improving emergency services across the state.

The program includes the construction of 30 new ambulance stations and the addition of over 2,500 new staff to support the growing needs of communities. Sites for the new ambulance stations will be selected based on factors such as size, location, and access to optimise response times.

Ryan Park, NSW Minister for Health, stated that this initiative is critical for ensuring that communities receive timely medical care. “We are progressing with planning to identify suitable sites to deliver new, modern, and purpose-built ambulance stations which will support local paramedics to provide the best emergency medical care now and into the future,” he said.

In East Maitland, the EOI process is part of a wider land search that includes Dundas Valley, Unanderra, and Colo Vale. Several other regions, including Cherrybrook and Edgeworth, have already undergone similar processes.

Health Infrastructure is working closely with NSW Ambulance and other stakeholders to find optimal locations for the new stations. All sites nominated through the EOI will be evaluated to ensure they meet the needs of the community and provide the best access for emergency services.

Local Member for Maitland Jenny Aitchison highlighted the potential benefits of the new station for her community. “A new ambulance station will make a major difference to the community in East Maitland,” she said, encouraging residents to contribute to the EOI process.

The exact location of the new East Maitland station will be confirmed once the land acquisition process is finalised. Construction and operational timelines will follow once planning is completed.
