Significant Delays Caused by Roadworks at Tomago

today11 September 2024

Background

Motorists are experiencing long delays due to late-finishing roadworks at the intersection of the Pacific Highway and Old Punt Road in Tomago. The roadworks, which were first reported at 5:40 am, have led to severe traffic congestion in the surrounding areas.

One motorist reported waiting for 45 minutes on the Hexham Bridge as traffic struggled to move. The situation is further complicated by ongoing widening projects on the Pacific and New England Highways, as well as works connected to the M1 extension.

Motorists are advised to exercise patience and drive safely, as delays are being felt across multiple routes. The New England Highway approaching the Hexham Bridge, Maitland Road heading west, and John Renshaw Drive are all seeing significant queues, with traffic even backing up onto the M1 Pacific Motorway.

Drivers are urged to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys while the roadworks continue.
