Man Charged with Domestic Violence Offences After Boolaroo Police Chase

today10 September 2024

Background

Boolaroo streets were the focus of a large-scale police operation yesterday as officers pursued a man wanted in relation to domestic violence offences.

At around 10:30 am on Monday, 9 September 2024, Lake Macquarie Police District officers attended a residence on Creek Reserve Road to locate the 33-year-old man. On arrival, police were informed that the man was at the rear of the property, but as they approached, he fled by jumping the back fence into a neighbouring yard.

Over the next few hours, police and members of the public reported several sightings of the man as he moved through properties, evading capture by jumping fences and hiding. The search involved multiple streets and continued throughout the afternoon.

At approximately 2 pm, the man was spotted again, and with the help of the NSW Police Force Dog Unit, he was found hiding in a rear yard on Fifth Street. Police arrested the man without further incident.

The man has been charged with two counts of intimidation, two counts of using an offensive weapon with intent, and one count of goods in custody. He was refused bail and is set to appear in Toronto Local Court today, Tuesday, 10 September 2024.

Police have thanked the community for their assistance during the search.
