Newcastle’s art scene is set to light up this month with the launch of the Darby Street Art Walk, a fresh initiative bringing local creativity to some of the city’s most popular cafes, bars, and shops.

Art lovers and casual visitors alike can now enjoy sculptures, paintings, and various artworks while going about their daily routine. Whether grabbing a morning coffee, having lunch, or window shopping, locals will encounter art in unexpected places, transforming ordinary moments into a celebration of Newcastle’s creative talent.

“We wanted to extend that experience to your favourite spots on Darby Street,” say the event organisers. “It’s about appreciating something created right here in Newcastle, in a space where you can relax and let the art speak to you.”

With 19 artworks featured in 16 venues, including Hubro at number 1 Darby Street and Palinopsia at the Art Gallery end, the Darby Street Art Walk offers a chance to explore at your own pace. The artworks will be on display throughout the month, allowing plenty of time to take in each piece. And for those who want more, information about the artists will be readily available, along with links to their social media or local galleries.

“The art isn’t going anywhere,” organisers add. “It’s here all month, so take your time and soak it in.”

The Darby Street Art Walk is set to continue year-round, with new artists and venues featured each month, keeping the event fresh and exciting for both locals and visitors.
